Pierre de Caen & Eau is now one of the main research and artistic creation programmes developed by Manuel Lefèvre.

Taking Caen stone as its central theme, it explores the flows, exchanges and Norman heritage that have linked these regions for nearly a thousand years.

Formed from water some 165,000 years ago, then transported by sea routes far beyond Normandy from the 11th century onwards, Caen stone stands here as a testament to a history where material, memory, heritage and contemporary creativity converge.

As part of a long-term research initiative, the project will reach its first major milestone with exhibitions in Caen and Enniscorthy (Ireland) in 2027, before continuing its development in other regions where Caen stone continues to tell a shared story.
